School Lunches

School lunches are coming to St Clare's. Every pupil will get a school lunch from February 1st, and it's free! Today we got samples of the lunch items, so we could taste them and decide what we would like to order. A man came around with a big tray. It contained sandwiches, rolls, wraps, fruit, cherry tomatoes, two types of pasta and yoghurt tubes. We had a chance to taste a piece of everything. We have filled in our menus at home, and the lunches will arrive starting on February 1st. We will get a sandwich or a wrap or a roll or pasta, a bottle of water, and a fruit item.

Paired Reading

This term we are doing Paired Reading with the Junior Infants in Rooms 2 and 3. We go over to the infant classrooms once a week, and each of us reads a story to two junior infants. If we have time, we ask them questions about the story. We use our voices to make the story interesting. We have a chance to read the story beforehand in our own classroom, so that we can read it well. We really enjoy paired reading.

On Friday, there was lots of snow in Cavan. The roads were very dangerous and some people couldn't come to school. The yard was covered in snow. We couldn't resist throwing a few snowballs every time we went outside!
